The mission of Bristol Borough's Emergency Management Agency is to develop and maintain a comprehensive plan to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of major emergencies that might occur within the Borough.
This is accomplished by working daily to coordinate the cooperation of the various Borough Departments: Police, Fire, Public Works, Ambulance and Health Services, Volunteer Units, Service Clubs, Schools, Businesses and other organizations that would have a roll in any major emergency.
During a major disaster or emergency, response and recovery activities are coordinated from the Borough's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located in the Borough's Municipal Building. From the EOC, heads of the varous departments and agencies work in a unified command to respond to the emergency.
Our goal is to save lives and to protect property through coordination of an integrated emergency management system with all emergency response organizations, support services and volunteers. We will be an advocate for greater community efforts, including educating the general public to mitigate and prepare for potential emergencies. We will support efforts to train and exercise emergency responders in both the public and private sectors.
This agency is committed to effective actions to prevent some disasters and to reduce the impact of those over which we have no control.
During an emergency, electricity, water, heat , air conditioning and/or telephone service may not work. Preparing an Emergency Go Kit ahead of time can save precious time in the event of evacuation.
You should consider including the following items in an Emergency Go Kit.
